Sometimes known as the Ixtapa Golf
Club, this is one of Mexico's best golf courses, with manicured rolling
fairways running through a coconut plantation to the Pacific Ocean at
Playa Palmar .
Open by FONATUR in 1975, Palma Real
golf course is a championship level golf course that was designed by the
legendary Robert Trent Jones Jr. The golf course is situated upon a
total area of 72 hectares and provides perfect harmony between its great
location and its use as a competitive golfing attraction.
The Palma Real Golf Course is a
wildlife preserve with many species of birds and three large lagoons
populated with
alligators. It
provides breathtaking, panoramic views of the ocean. Some of these views

photo gallery. The Palma
Real is an 18 hole, Par 72, championship golf course that is 6,898 yards
in length with beautiful, wide fairways and, it has very irregular
slopes. Sand traps are strategically placed and the lagoons and the
greens feature the occasional crawling lizard or crocodiles, which gives
the course a true exotic and unique atmosphere.
The course’s capacity is calculated
at approximately 250 golfers a day. The complicated trajectory of the
front ends with one of the most difficult holes on the course, Hole #18.
A 469-yard Par 4, this hole brings water into play along the left side
of its wavy fairway. The large green presents the golfer with a number
of challenges. A slight slip in focus will surely cost you strokes on
this hole.
Palma Real Golf Course offers a
variety of additional services such as: parking, pro shop, driving
range, putting green, locker facilities, tour professional lighted
tennis courts, two paddle tennis courts, caddy service, golf pro, golf
carts, club rental, snack bars located on holes #4 and #14, mobile bar,
club house, restaurant/bar service, and general offices with long
distance calls, facsimile service and internet access.
